This weekend it is time for  Cataluña  GP, better known as Montmelo, one of my favourite tracks. Well, after very intense race at Mugello, especially last curve, probably one of the best races, since Australia last year, we must be ready to expect all kind of excitement again, i guess.

The news are that Pol Espargaro will not be part of Yamaha Tech 3 next season, and that he is pretty close to sign the deal with KTM, whose second driver Bradley Smith is confirmed earlier.

Also, Pol will be part od Suzuka 8 hours, defending his last year victory together with Alex Lowes, Super Bike driver and Katsuyuki Nakasuga.

ABOUT THE TRACK

When it comes to the track, the circuit was build in 1991, and the first race was at the same year, welcoming F1 drivers. The  first MotoGP race was in 1996, with Carlos Checa as a winner in 500cc class.

Most victories record belongs to Valentino Rossi, who has nine, but none since 2009. Jorge Lorenzo has 5, including one from last year.

Considered one of the best designed circuits, the Circuito de Cataluña won the IRTA ‘Best Grand Prix’ trophy in 2001.

The race will be long 25 laps, with lenght of  4,7km. It is consisted of 13 corners, 5 left and 8 right.

Current circuit record belongs to Repsol Honda driver Marc Marquez with time 1'42.182 accomplished in 2014. Also Marc
is leader at Top speed list with 347.1 from 2015.
Suzuki Ecstar driver Aleix Espargaro holds the fastest lap of the circuit with time 1'40.546.
